Centre for Global Health Research

My image of three men chatting and relaxing along the shaded arcade inside the Jama Masjid at Fatehpur Sikri, was used in an anti-tobacco campaign by the Centre for Global Health Research. It was one of 12 images used in a calendar for tobacco control awareness this year. The calendar was distributed throughout India to promote a project about tobacco control and cessation which included statistics regarding the state of public health surrounding tobacco use in specific districts of India.

The Phone Photography Project: Summer Challenges

Last summer I was a teacher in the original Phone Photography Project class at Big Picture Classes. I’m happy to say that the class has been rereleased this summer as a self-paced class. Not only was this class a ton of fun, but the challenges were had me shooting and creating compositions with my Smartphone that I normally wouldn’t think of doing. You’ll get all the same great content from the original Phone Photography Project guided workshop (from summer 2013) to do at your own pace.If you don’t have a smartphone, don’t worry! All the challenges can be tackled with a DSLR or a point-and-shoot camera. You can sign up for the class HERE.

Here’s what Big Picture has to say:

Beyond the Walls: Prison Health Care & Reentry Summit

Tomorrow I’ll be shooting the Prison Health Care & Reentry Summit for Philadelphia Fight for the third time! I thought I’d take a look back at the past two years while gearing up for this year. One of my favorite things about this summit, is that I always learn something new, gain a new perspective about our legal system and of course, meet some amazing people too along the way.

From AEM2013 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The day closed out with a poetry slam which they’ll be doing again this year. I can’t wait!

AEM2014 Sneak Peak Breakfest

This month I’ll be shooting AIDS Education Month for Philadelphia Fight, a comprehensive AIDS service organization providing consumer education, social services, outreach to people living with HIV and to those who are at high risk. At the end of April, I had the chance to shoot their Sneak Peak Breakfast where they unveiled this year’s lineup for the 20th Anniversary of AIDS Education Month. Things get underway with the Opening Reception and 2014 Kiyoshi Kuromiya Award Ceremony at the Independence Hall Visitor’s Center on Tuesday night. It promises to be an amazing and inspiring evening.
