Tonight I’ll be heading into Center City to shoot the 2015 Fight for Life Gala forPhiladelphia Fight. The organization is celebrating 25th years and tonight’s featured guest is the world-famous Gold Medal Winner, Olympian Greg Louganis. The celebration will be held in the Millennium Ballroom at the Loews Hotel with an exclusive VIP cocktail reception before the festivities on the 33rd floor.
I thought I’d share some images from last year’s Fight for Life Gala featuring Wade Davis, former NFL Football Player and executive director for the You Can Play Project, with a surprise visit from former Philadelphia Mayor and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell at the Philadelphia Union League. Wade arrived earlier in the week and made some time to connect with some of Philadelphia’s youth, in an epic dodgeball game with some of the clients and staff fromY-HEP, Philadelphia Fight’s Youth Organization. Philadelphia Councilmen Bill Greenlee and Mark Squilla were also in attendance.

Since tomorrow is World AIDS Day, I thought I’d share some images from last year’s 6th Annual World AIDS Day Prayer Breakfast for Philadelphia Fight in the Ormandy Ballroom at the Doubletree Hotel in Center City Philadelphia. World AIDS Day is a time for people and communities around the world to get together and dedicate activities and events to remember those who lost their lives to the disease and to celebrate the amazing progress that has been achieved in the global response to HIV. Last year’s event was attended by members of the public and faith communities around the city who came together to hear The Reverend Dr. Leslie D. Callahan, Pastor of St. Paul’s Baptist Church, speak along with progress updates from Philadelphia Fight.
Tomorrow I’ll be photographing the 7th Annual World AIDS Day Prayer Breakfast, also at the Doubletree, for Philadelphia Fight once again.

Last winter, I photographed the 20th Anniversary Party for Y-HEP, the Youth Health Empowerment Project run by Philadelphia Fight, at the Moore College of Art. A great group of people braved the snow that evening to honor the founder of the organization and showcase their best moves while sporting plenty of plaid for the 90’s themed Dance Party. Philadelphia’s DJ Fox Boogie prepped the crowd, warming them up for the night’s featured act, DJ Spinderella from the hip hop group Salt ‘n Peppa. The party was a blast to shoot with everyone getting down on the dance floor for every beat.
I love shooting for this organization. Not only are the members a pleasure to work with, but I learn something new about Philadelphia’s youth and the resources Y-HEP provides for them including amazing holistic health care, mental health services, sexual health education, on top of a whole lot of good will. Not many people realize how committed the staff is to their “kids” - ages 13-24 high-risk/high promise, low-income, urban youth - helping them to build rewarding lives out of extremely difficult circumstances. It’s a pleasure and an honor for me to shoot for them.

This sweet Mama is currently pregnant with her third child! I’ll be meeting with her later this week to plan out our next maternity shoot for baby #3, so I thought I’d share some images from our maternity shoot before baby Ella was born! Since it was a snowy Saturday afternoon, we made use of the cozy nooks and grannies in Susan’s home assisted by her adorable son, Jace. This mama holds a special place in my heart, as Jace’s baby bump was the first maternity shoot that I photographed five years ago this past spring!
Images from this shoot are available to license at Stocksy United here.
